Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has reportedly been found dead beneath the rubble of his compound following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Tehran.
A senior Israeli official told Reuters that Khamenei was killed in the joint operation.
The supreme leader was said to be the primary target, as Donald Trump urged Iranians to “rise up.”
Trump said: “When we are finished, take over your government — it will be yours.
“This will likely be your only opportunity for generations. For years you have asked America for help but never received it.
“No president has been willing to do what I am prepared to do tonight.”
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on Iranian citizens “to flood the streets and finish the job.”
Earlier in the day, Iran’s foreign ministry had said Khamenei was “safe and sound.”
However, Netanyahu later claimed there were “growing indications” that he had been killed.
