According to TMZ, the singer was taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol at around 9:30 PM on Wednesday night. Ventura County Sheriff’s records indicate that she has since been released.
Spears has not publicly addressed the arrest reports, and her Instagram account appears to have been deactivated. Earlier the same day, it was reported that the Toxic singer received a permanent restraining order against a man from Louisiana after her security team said he showed up at her home following a series of disturbing posts on social media.
Court documents reportedly filed by Spears state that the 51-year-old man, identified as Donald, had been harassing her since 2013. He was previously arrested in 2025 for trespassing on her property. A court has ordered him to remain at least 100 yards away from the singer after her security staff found him outside her residence and alerted the sheriff’s department. Deputies reportedly discovered the man at the scene shaking and smoking cigarettes.
Spears, whose conservatorship ended in November 2021, frequently posts videos online that have raised concern among fans. Just last week, she shared a provocative video of herself dancing, which ended in a wardrobe malfunction when the lace lingerie she was wearing slipped and failed to properly cover her.
In the clip, the pop icon dances to Clean Bandit’s 2016 hit “Rockabye” while wearing a purple lace bodysuit. However, the outfit’s plunging neckline struggled to contain her bust. The video was one of several revealing dance clips previously posted on her now-deleted Instagram account.
