Shadow fleet tanker reward LinkedIn: Search for sanctioned vessel Omra
A highly unusual advertisement has appeared on LinkedIn, offering a cash reward of 500,000 euros for verified information on the current position of the tanker Omra. First reported by Seatrade Maritime, the ads were posted by an account using the name Omra EX-VANI and provide contact details registered in India. The vessel, identified by IMO 9264881, is a central figure in the shadow fleet network and has been under United States sanctions since July 2025. This shadow fleet tanker reward LinkedIn campaign marks a new, public approach to tracking sanctioned assets that operate outside traditional maritime law.

The Omra, formerly known as the Vani, is owned by the Marshall Islands-based company Avani Lines and is heavily involved in the transportation of Iranian crude oil. According to maritime databases, the ship has a history of deceptive practices, including sailing under false flags from Guyana, the Comoros Islands, and San Marino. Despite the LinkedIn post showing a black-painted hull under the name Vani, intelligence reports suggest the vessel may have been repainted and renamed to evade detection. The latest tracking data from February 2026 placed the tanker off the coast of Johor, Malaysia, an area notorious for ship-to-ship transfers of sanctioned cargo.
